We're aware of new products from Bridgestone, Dunlop and Michelin next year, although we can't say more just yet. But a new Hypersport tyre from Pirelli, we didn't expect !
It's Pirelli Diablo Rosso Corsa and described as "the only hypersport tyre for road and track use to draw upon technology from the Superbike World Championship".
Effectively replacing the Diablo Corsa III, the new tyre is a "racing street segment" product and supplements the Diablo Rosso in Pirelli's sport range.
Featuring "EPT" contact patch technology, optimising the contact patch area at all lean angles, and coupled, in the rear fitment, with a multi zone compound, where the central compound area aims to provide greater mileage, whilst the shoulder zone comes "straight from WSBK".
An "aggressive" tread pattern design, quick warm up and consistent water drainage, are claimed for the Rosso Corsa, and the rear tyre has a slick-like shoulder zone, with a greater concentration of tread grooves elsewhere.
Look out for this new arrival, early next year, with a 120/70ZR17 front and four popular rear sizes.
At the same time, Pirelli Moto announce that, from the start of 2010, its tyres will be fitted as original equipment to all Ducati models, in an Italian duo-partnership, which will clearly work well for both tyre and motorcycle manufacturer.
