Rogue collectors using forged collection notes are now operating in the Essex area.
This practice, first reported in South and South-East London earlier in the year relies on the use of collection notes purporting to be those of established reputable tyre recyclers. Earlier this year Surrey - based TRA member Willow Tyres were targeted in this way. Now another TRA member, Grove Road Tyres of Chadwell Heath, Essex have learned that false collection notes using the Grove Road trading name are being used by one or more illegal operators.
Both TRA companies are long-time supporters of the tyre industry's Responsible Recycler Scheme and are widely respected for their integrity, and commitment to best practice.
The Environment Agency have been made aware of this growing form of used tyre fraud the TRA is urging tyre retailers and others to be particularly alert and properly observe their legal Duty or Care.
